OliOli Junior – meditations for kids
Are you ready to take things to a new level? Are you looking to find solutions for issues that are troubling your kids or your family? Or maybe you just want a good night’s sleep?
Why should kids meditate?
We know that it is crucial for adults to pause, reflect and start again. You probably know how great that feels for yourself, so you can imagine how it must feel for kids. Their daily life is just as packed with information and activities, their brains are in constant development, and they have limited filters and just take it all in.
Meditation affects different parts of the brain, including the parietal lobe. During meditation, activity in the parietal lobe is decreased, which helps children to process information more clearly.
We all do things to support our children’s health, social skills and cognitive functions.
Turns out, meditation might be one of the healthiest activities you can do with your kids.
They grow up in a very fast-paced, multitasking world and they will benefit in their childhood and throughout their life, if they learn to slow down, breathe deeply and clear their mind.
We see a worldwide rise in children’s stress, anxiety and depression, and we need to help the children to prevent this.
Research is showing how mindfulness and meditation can be a very efficient and easy-to-use tool for sensitive kids or children with diagnoses such as autism and ADHD. Just like all other children, they experience better mood and emotional control.
If you’re still not sure, whether guided meditation is something you should do with your children, we have a no-nonsense list of benefits for you, including but not limited to increased focus, self-control, coping strategies, emotional regulation, and better relationships.

But how to meditate with kids?
We understand how it might seem almost impossible to get your toddler or teenager to sit still and listen.
That’s why we suggest making it a part of a routine. You can use it when your child is home from school, before falling asleep or before getting out of bed.
The guided meditations in OliOli Junior are developed specifically for children. They are easy to understand, the pace is lower and the duration shorter, to meet your children’s limited attention span.
All the kids’ meditations are spoken directly from the heart of certified and experienced meditation teachers, and you can hear their devotion in their caring and soothing voices.
Older children might find that they can easily follow the guided meditations for adults, and they can of course use the OliOli Meditation app for themselves.
How often should kids meditate?
Meditation is a skill. And like any other skill, you need repetition to build it.
This goes for kids and adults, but aiim for 3-5 times a week. More is better, but less is better than nothing.
If meditation is practiced sporadically, it might give a here-and-now effect, an instant stress relief. This quick fix can be good if really needed, but we look to science and the experts, who strongly advise consistency with your – and your kids’ – meditation practice.
Our own experience
It is our own children that inspired us to include guided meditations for kids in the OliOli app.
In a rather stressful period, the founder of OliOli listened to guided meditations everyday, and found great relief and increased ability to tackle the situation.
She searched for guided meditations for her daughters, 4 and 7 at the time, and listened with them, as a part of their nightly routine. “They fell asleep instantly and slept through the night. Both of them woke up remembering their dreams and telling me about it. And after a couple of days, they were ‘back to normal’ with more joy and less yelling.”
Now both of the girls are off to school, and “it is obvious how they do better in so many ways when they meditate regularly.”
It is our own experience, and our knowledge from following the research on meditations for children, that led us to focus on the kids, and give them their own meditation app, OliOli Junior.
With OliOli Junior, your child will get access to 20 guided children’s meditations, and more are coming. They can search with keywords, or browse through pictures. They can mark their favorites for later, so they can always come back to them.
When you buy a subscription for OliOli Meditation, OliOli Junior is included.
The first 7 days are free.
As the app grows, more guided meditations from more teachers will be added, and we will constantly bring new ideas and content to the app.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us here (firstname.lastname@example.org), if you have any ideas you would like to see in the app.
